Surprising everyone at the Game Awards this past Friday, Gun Interactive announced that they are teaming up with Sumo Nottingham to bring Leatherface fans a brand new video game based on director Tobe Hooper‘s 1974 horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre! You can check out the official trailer in the embedded video below.
And for those who didn’t already know this, Kane Hodder is doing all the motion capture for the character of Leatherface, which was recently confirmed by the man himself in an interview with the folks at Fangoria. We have also included that interview for you below.
The game is said to be: “an asymmetrical multiplayer horror experience for PC and ninth generation gaming consoles”.
Gun’s Ronnie Hobbs had this to say about the project:
Ronnie Hobbs, creative director at Gun, shared the following statement:
“It’s no secret that the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is probably my favorite horror film ever created. Having the chance to really dive into the world of this IP with the team from Gun and working with Sumo to bring this vision to life has been almost surreal. I can’t wait for everyone to see more of what we’re doing.”
Darren Campion, executive producer at Sumo Nottingham, shared the following comments:
“We’re incredibly excited to finally reveal what we’ve been working on here at Sumo Nottingham. To be the first to truly bring the world of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to life was an opportunity that could not be passed. The cult classic has been terrifying and spellbinding people for over 40 years and we’re thrilled with how the game is developing, we cannot wait for fans old and new to become part of this truly authentic experience.”
